Dave's Story
I graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1973 and joined the USAF shortly thereafter. Got to fly the heavies. (Lockheed C-141) Also got a graduate degree from Central Michigan University in management. Was fortunate enough to spend eight years on active duty and 14 years in the USAF Reserves and NC Air National Guard. Retired as a Lt Col in 1997.
In mid-80s, started working for South Carolina National Bank in Charleston as a Commercial Loan Officer. Later moved to Hilton Head and did the same there. A transfer to Denver,...Expand for more
with a different bank, was a great move. Subsequently, ended up in Phoenix. There I worked for Capitol Bancorp a bank holding company, which at one time owned 64 community banks in 17 states. Over the years it sold off banks to survive. It sold its last four banks in December 2013, and I simultaneously retired. After a year of retirement, I went to work for Chase Bank, approving unsecured business loans. I retired for the last time in 2017.
I've been married twice. Have a great son who is an accomplished historian and two grandkids.
