Dave's Story

Dave Washington, Jr., is a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Upon completion of high school he accepted a scholarship to attend Alcorn State University and graduated with a degree in Chemistry. While at Alcorn he played on national championship football and conference championship basketball teams. Dave later received a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Jackson State University. He has taught on the high school and college levels. The Christian values and training Dave received from his single-parent mom; grandmother and sister as a result of his father’s untimely death are the foundations he builds from today. His dad a Pastor and businessman were only a part of Dave’s life for two years, this time though brief, provided a glimpse for Dave’s ministry, athletic, academic and professional development. Dave’s eleven years in the National Football League (NFL) as an outside linebacker produced All-Pro years at Denver, Buffalo, and San Francisco. Professionally he is a featured sports columnist for many National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) newspapers, a member of the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA), National Football League Alumni Association (NFL-Alumni), Pro Football Writers Association, Alcorn State University Sports Hall of Fame, and U. d as he reaches out to youth and families with the unchanging gospel message. Dave has served as an Associate and Senior Pastor. Currently Uncle Dave, as he is affection ally called by thousands around the world, travels and speaks to youth, families, prison inmates and all that will listen to his messages of hope. He is a recipient of the Bill Glass/Champions for Life Prison Ministries 250 Pin for forty-two (42) years of dedicated service through well over 300 events and counting. Dave has previously served as a Support Minister at the former Word of Faith Christian Center (WOFCC), now Faith 4 Life Christian Center, Jackson, MS. Dave is married to his college sweetheart Dianne W. Washington and they have three adult children and a host of grandkids. He and Dianne (wife) directed the relief efforts of Noah’s Ark Relief Center during the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. Minister, Coach, Administrator, Teacher, Dave currently serves as Jackson Public Schools Health Related Professionals (HRP) Coordinator, Interim Assistant Principal and teaches STEM-related courses in Chemistry. Through their Foundation Dave Washington Ministries, Incorporated, a 501-c-3, Federally Certified Non-Profit organization, seeks to help enhance the physical, economic and spiritual lives of families, youth and the homeless.
