David's Story

My wife Chris and I really enjoyed the 50th reunion in Oct. 2015. Being from Rome while attending Notre Dame I must say that while I enjoyed my high school experience, I really didn't get to hang out with the guys from the Utica area much, or forge any life-long friendships. After graduation, I attended Utica College for the fall '65 semester and discovered I wasn't quite ready for college. Rather than get drafted, I enlisted in the Navy in 1966 and spent 18 months at the Naval Communication Station on Guam, and 2 years onboard cruisers home ported in Yokosuka, Japan, that p...Expand for more
rovided naval gunfire support for the ground troops off the coast of Vietnam. In 1970 I enrolled at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse on the GI Bill where I met and married my wife Chris. We graduated as foresters in Dec. of 1973 and I began a 32 year career with the USDA Forest Service in 1974, retiring in 2006 . Our son Dan was born in 1974, and daughter Vicky in 1975. Since retiring we enjoy traveling and spend a lot of time visiting our daughter's family and two grandsons in North Carolina, and our son's family and granddaughter in Virginia.
