David's Story
Life
We have three grown kids (Melissa, David S and Candise). We have 10 grandchildren (all girls). Linda and I have been married 33 years in June 2009. We have live in Groton Ct and now reside in Woodbine Georgia.
School
I would have to say the most inspiration teacher was Ms Joann Hunt. She really inspired me to look at myself in a more postive way. I truly wish that I had sought her wisdom in what I could have done in college. I have many found memories of the times I had with James Short, Bill Troxell, Peggy Morris, Gary Ackerman (and his two sisters), Tina Morris, Butch Fransics, Robert Thoni, the people on the debate teams, and the people in the Speech classes.
Workplace
In high school I worked at Shotgun Sam's Pizza (both in Midwest City and the one in Oklahoma City). After graduation I joined the military (visit the military section for that update). I work for CACI during the time frame 1979 thru 1980, and then went to work for Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion, and Repair in Grot...Expand for more
on, CT from 1981 thru 1982. I then re-entered the service. From 1982 to 1995 I was active duty and retired in 1995. From July of 1995 till June 1996 I held several jobs and I won't bore people with listing each one. However, in June 1996 I started working for Trident Refit Facility and have been here ever since.
Military
I entered the Navy shortly after graduation from Midwest City High School. I went to boot camp and "A" school in San Diego Ca. After a short visit home, I then traveled to Groton/New London Ct to attend submarine training. After completion of sub training, I was assigned to the USS Nathaniel Green (SSN 636)(Gold). From Nov 1973 thru May 1979 I was stationed at various commands in Groton. In May 1979 I was discharged and went to work for a local company. In April 1982 I re-entered the Navy and once again I was stationed at various commands in the Groton/New London area. In the summer of 1992 our unit was sent to Kingsbay Naval Submarine Base, and in 1995 I retired from the Navy.
