18 years, finally graduating from High School in the Panama Canal Zone. I dropped out of college my first year and enlisted in the Marine Corps. After three years and a dozen duty assignments, I was commissioned in the Marines, and spent my next three years in another dozen duty assignments. I came back to college, then went to Law School while teaching NROTC. After returning to active duty, I retired medically due to injuries. I practiced law, ran a State agency, returned to law practice, and served as the Mayor-pro-tem of Cary, North Carolina. In 1991, I was medically retired due to prior injuries and fevers of unknown origin. Following additional schooling, I was ordained as a priest in the Anglican Orthodox Church, although my injuries have kept me from any active practice therein.".
