David's Story
This feels very much like the first day of school in the fall when you had to stand and tell about your summer vacation except that instead of three months it's been nearing fifty years. I've shared some pictures, and will share more, that represent some of the things that make my life beautiful.. A chronology of those years goes something like this.
After leaving the cocoon we all shared I entered and spent three semesters at a college just outside of Kansas City. The next five years are somewhat lost in a haze of smoke, spending winters in Mexico and working itinerant jobs during summers. Then hired on to the railroad starting...Expand for more
by swinging a spike maul and progressing to being a locomotive engineer. During this period I also was the bargaining representative of the BLE for six years. Left the railroad in the early nineties, buyout, returned to college graduating from Simpson and becoming self-employed, retiring in 2005. In 1976 I married Genny Adams of Winterset. Together we raised three children Caleb, Lacey, and Nathan. They have given us five grandchildren, three girls and two boys. We have made our home in Indianola since 1979. My interests are reading, writing, politics, gardening, cooking, baking, collecting art pottery, photography, and travel.
