David's Story
Hi All, I retired from the U of Illinois in aug.07 and my wife retired from there in may 09. I love to fish, especially when i get to school phil dikeman. Wade fishing in scenic rivers for smallmouth bass is my favorite thing in the world. Hiking and walking in general clears my head and keeps me healthy. We live on 2.5 acres in rural monticello,about 25 mi. from Decatur. We have raised hogs and even ran a truck farm for a few years, selling heirloom veggies and herbs and flowers. We have been married for32 years and are still adjusting to both of us being retired.Selling my deceased moms house in Decatur while at the same time dealing with the aftermath of a wild hail storm that damaged our house in may 09 has really interfered with our first summer off together, put a dent in my ability to visit friends but this will pass soon i hope.
