David's Story
Life
How do you limit the last 24 years since graduation to 4000 characters. I'm sure this will be an ongoing effort... After sitting in the audience at the Pavilion watching all of you graduate. Because I took the easy way out and took the test. One of the many things in life I would do over if I could. I spent the first part of the summer partying with friends and family. In July I joined the Air Force as a voice and data communications / crypto technician to see the world and get some life / job experience. Over the next 10 years I bounced back and forth from Texas to Mississippi, Japan, and Korea several times and landed in Illinois. While in Korea for the second time I met a beautiful young Korean woman (Kyoung Ju) and got married Sept. of 1988. After returning to the states we had a daughter Rebecca Marie in Nov. 1989. In 1990 I left the Air Force and returned to Concord with my new family. While looking for the perfect career opportunity I took a temp job as a switch tech for a small local long distance carrier out of Walnut Creek. d to return to Korea. In Sept 1992 she returned to Korea for a visit and to both my daughters and my surprize she filed for divorce. Dec of 1993 after calling to wish the both of us a Merry Christmas and informing me that the divorce was final, was the last time either of us heard from her again. In 1995 while still working at that "temp" job I baught a house in Concord and almost to the day was relocated to thier Napa Office as a manager when the WC office was shut down. In 1999 myself and 12 other employees were let go in a major cut back. All of us got together and opened an Office in Napa for a competitor out of central Ca. I started as the Operations Manager and when I left I was the acting General Manager of the Napa branch. Last spring just as the bottom was falling out of the communications industry my Dad presented me the opportunity to take over his business in Martinez. After 24 years in the communication field I am now the Owner / Operator of a small retail store. My daughter now 14 has been my inspiration throughout. We still live alone in Concord. I look forward to hearing from friends from both my school and military days.
