David's Story

Life Hi all. Well where to begin. I joined the Military about a year and a half after HS. I've actually made it my first career and it was the best 26 years of my life. I retired as a Major back in October 2007 and we remained here in Arizona (Tucson) to start my second career with Northrop Grumman Corporation/now TASC, Inc. I'm a Section manger/Test Engineer working for the Joint Interoperability Test Command on Fort Huachuca. My wife Dawn and I have three daughters (Kayla 24, Ysette 14, Aracely 7) and two sons (Joshua (J.D) 13, Zach 10). I visit back to Enfield quite frequently, as most of my family still lives there...not because I think it's a cool place to vacation--just kidding. Hope to see you up there when I visit, or if anyone is in or near the Tucson Arizona area...drop me an e-mail Dave College Spent four long years at Troy State University going to school at night and working full-time in the military (Maxwell AFB--Comm Squadron). Majored in Computer Science/Resource Management, and had an absolute blast in all my classes...met many fantastic people...who I wouldn't mind hearing from if you remember me...:-) Take care! Military Joined the USAF in 1981 after high school and after basic went on to communications tech school for six great months in Witchta Falls Texas (I'm kidding of course)--Horrid town. After school I got assigned to Patrick AFB working Telephone Switching (Inside Plant). A Fantastic four years in the sun n' fun of Florida. After Patrick AFB, I changed jobs, went back to school for 6 months to become a Tech Control Specialist, and was sent to Rhein Main AB GERMANY. Spent another fabulous four years in Europe, having a blast traveling, seeing the sights and more then anything...enjoying the food From Germany it was off to Alabama and Maxwell AFB (Gunter Annex)..where I...Expand for more
worked supporting Standard Systems Center while assigned to the Comm Squadron at Maxwell. Another great four years (see a trend here?) From Maxwell I went to Officer Training School (at Maxwell), and got commissioned as a Second Lieutenet. After school I got assigned to MacDill AFB in Tampa...spent a unbelievable two and a half years there working computer networking. From MacDill, I moved on to Langley AFB, VA to work in a new organization called the AC2ISRC, working tactical data link modernization supporting Air Defense Systems for NORAD and NATO--a real career broadening experience. From Langley I was shipped up to the Pentagon, where I supported the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force and the Air Force Central Adjudications Facility--managing and securing database systems. In Sept of 2003, I moved over to the Pentagon Comm Agency, until it is contracted out in the spring of 2004. I left the Pentagon and Northern Virginia the summer of 2004 and was re-assigned to sunny Southern Arizona and Davis-Monthan AFB. I did 5 months at the 355th Communications Squadron as the Support Flight Commander, then deployed to Al Udeid AB, Qatar supporting the Aircraft Maintenance Group Commander as his executive officer---I learned a great deal about how we prepare, repair, and launch multi-airframes. I returned from my desert vacation in June of 2005, and moved across the base to the 612th Air Communications Squadron, where I served with some fantastic people like Lt Col Tim Mannning and Col Gary Kemp prior to retiring in October 2007. Moved on after military retirement and started my second career with Northrop Grumman Corp here in Arizona. I'm a Systems Engineer support the Joint Interoperability Test Command at Fort Huachuca--miss the military but civilian life isn't too bad either...:-)
