After YHS, I went to UC Irvine and graduated in ¿83 with 2 BAs: Economics & Political Science (5 year plan). After graduating I got a job in the computer business, selling hardware and software (Inacomp Computer Centers). I worked for them in sales for 5 years (¿83-¿88). I was then recruited by a competitor (Businessland) where I worked in sales: Sales Rep then District Manager then Regional Manager, for another 5 years (¿88-¿93). Businessland then merged with a company back east called JWP systems. They brought in their own management team, and I found myself faced with either going back into a sales position or take their severance package. I took the package. After a few months looking for my next career, I came across an opportunity in Colorado to be part of a start-up division for a Copier company (Associated Business Products, based in Salt Lake City) that need expertise in connectivity issues with interfacing copiers with computer networks. I worked for ABP for about a year (¿93-¿94). It was very high stress as a 100% commission position selling 200K-300K solutions to large corporations here in Colorado. Then one Sunday, as I perused the newspaper, I found an ad for a sales position in the Sports Advertising industry. The company was Sports Display, based in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA.
