David's Story
Life
My husband, Denny, and I will celebrate 27 years together this November! By the way... we finally went to Vegas! It wasn't what I'd hoped, but we did get to jump out of an airplane! We have a female Norwich Terrier, Spice, and a female Boxer mix named Leilani! That makes two dogs, two cats, 8 Pygmy goats and a ram. Can a egg-laying hen be far behind? Never got one (LOL). I learned how to can tomatoes, make and can salsa and applesauce from our garden and apple trees.
School
High school was definitely an interesting experience, when I look back on it. There were good parts and bad parts as there are in life. There are some things I would do differently, if I could, and some I would not. But I accept it for what it was and how it helped to shape who I am now.
College
After high school, I went to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh on a full-tuition scholarship...Expand for more
. I stayed in Pgh. for 2 years and then moved back to VA. I took Religion and Philosophy classes at NVCC, which I later transfered to the Catholic University of America in NE Washington. I was a Magi scholar and graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Studio Art and minors in Religion and Anthropology. I also took some graduate courses in Special Ed at UVA's Northern Virginia Center.
Workplace
I finished up working as the Paladin Clinician, at the Chesterbrook Academies in Chantilly and Sterling, before we moved to Mount Crawford. I finished the Veterinary Assistant class at the local technical center and was immediately hired by the animal hospital where I take my dogs. I found it really interesting and challenging! I went on to work for WeightWatchers for six years. Lately, I have been creating stained glass art and selling at festivals and over the internet!
