David A. Dexter is a retired healthcare executive and board leader with more than three decades of experience guiding complex, multistate clinical laboratory and healthcare organizations. He simultaneously served as President & CEO of Sonora Quest Laboratories, LLC, President & CEO of Laboratory Sciences of Arizona, LLC and General Manager of Joint Ventures for Quest Diagnostics in Arizona with nearly 4,000 employees.
In these roles, Dex and his senior team built one of the nation’s largest and most successful joint venture laboratories (SQL, LLC) and combined with (LSA, LLC) formed one of the largest integrated laboratory networks in the nation providing management and strategic direction for 35 Hospital and Rapid Response Laboratories supporting Banner Health Hospitals, Academic Medical Centers, and Cancer Centers in Arizona and 5 western states.
Career Financial Performance: Led Sonora Quest Laboratories from approximately ($1M/month OM loss) to strong growth and profitability in the billions for both Net Revenue and Operating Margin (19.3% over 26 years). Led Laboratory Sciences of Arizona to an industry best of 2.88% of total hospital lab cost versus the 6–12% national average.

O, I required myself and every senior team leader to lead a major charitable event each year and actively participate on non-profit boards as part of their executive development and the company’s market strategy.
My Mantra: I believe that CEO’s have a moral and ethical responsibility to make a difference for the communities and which we live and work. I call it ‘Higher Ambition Leadership’
