David's Story
Life
Hello there friends!
It's been a while, hasn't it??! I am way away from Riverdale and my beloved California coast now. Way out 'tere in da frozen nort', ya kno! I live in Blaine, Minnesota (a suburb of Minneapolis)with my lovely wife of 4 years now, but my best friend of the past 25! So if any of you ever get out this way, you'll have a hotel room here in Minneapolis!
I lost track of most of you after I joined the Navy right after HS. I needed the time to get my act together and figgure out what I wanted to do with this life... I worked as a medic in the Navy, spent most of my time on the USS Enterprize and got to see a bit of the world in the process. Probably the best thing about being in the Navy, although I didn't know it at the time, was meeting Nina, my wife. We met as friends while we were both in Seattle and she quickly became my infatuation... but she had to go back to Minnesota to finish Nursing school at St. Olaf and, alas.. I was in the Navy...
After I got out of the Navy I moved back home for, like a minute.. then was back up in San Francisco where I started my career in Medicine. I worked as a dialysis technician, nurse and emergency medical technician for 18 years. Spent 6 years in San Diego in the mid 80's going to school at Mesa College and UCSD. Ended up getting married to a beach bunny and having my son, Joe.. the pride of my life!!
I became single again at the start of the 90's, also being a single parent in the process.. back up in San Francisco (Pal...Expand for more
o Alto), where I continued my career in Dialysis. Then, in 95, I decided to change careers and use my degree in Chemistry for something... so I started a new career as a chemist. I worked for Applied Biosystems for the remaining 5 years I was in the Bay area in the most challanging and rewarding job I have ever had. Then..something changed my life..
I decided to admit to Nina how I felt about her all these years.. and found out she did too!! (How great is that!!) Joe was on his own by now... so I trusted fate, got married to my sweetie, (2000).. and now I am in Minn-e-soooo-taa!! It's different, to be sure.. but I love being with Nina and her wonderful family... She works as a Regulotory Compliance specialist at Medtronic and I work in Pharmaceutical research at 3-M... and am now finally used to the seasons- Winter and Mosquito!!
We'll be back to California, someday, to live... in the meantime.. give us a shout out if you are ever in the area! E-mail works too!! I still have the fondest memories of all of you and life in good ol' Rumordale!! Seasonal work in the summer chopping cotton out on the Borba's ranch (?) and picking tomatoes for Pete Kercher. Absolutely sucking at sports.. but having a blast being out there with everybody! Mr Groeling singing "White Christmas". And, of course, the great controversies of our times... hair length, girls wearing blue jeans to school and showing "Hercules" at ditch day instead of "Aloha Bobby and Rose"!!
Hope to hear from you soon!!
