David's Story
Life
After graduation from High School I received a scholarship to sing for Washburn University. I went to Washburn to get a degree in Music Education and to continue on the Power and Life route of singing and dancing. It took a whole two weeks to figure out that it wasn't going to work out.
I spent 3 years singing for the schools Choir and with the Washburn Singers but began studying Criminal Justice instead of music.
I worked for Burns International Security through school and once I graduated I became the Area Manager for Leavenworth. While doing that I was hired by the Gladstone Public Safety department and became a part time Public Safety Officer there. I was then hired as a Deputy Sheriff in Clay County Missouri.
Shortly after that, in 1994, I was hired by Sheriff Herb Nye to work for the Leavenworth ...Expand for more
County Sheriffs Office. I went on to sing and compete in Barbershop Style Music from 1999-2003 with the Leavenworth Cody Choraliers. I worked for the Leavenworth County Sheriffs agency until February of 2006.
I am now the Deputy Chief of Police in Lake Quivira Kansas. It is a gated city of 450 homes and about 1200 people. I never knew that Police work could be like this. Hopefully in the next 3 years I can become Chief and keep growing the department.
If anyone knows how to get ahold of John Beaver, from our class, Bill Heinze and I have been looking for him for 12 years now. The last time we saw him was in New York in 1995. John if you read this Bill and I would really like to talk with you. We miss you man.
Update: As of 12-08-2007 I have found John Beaver!!! He is doing great and lives in Atlanta Ga.
