David's Story
I discovered motorcycles in my freshman year and it was all over for me they were my first loves, love bikes still ride. After graduation, I went up to Chaffee Jr. College took classes, dumb stuff Ceramics, Interior design, Painting.
In Dec. 72 I joined the Plasterers Union's apprenticeship, the following year I dropped out then joined the Laborers union as a (Hod Carrier), Plaster Tender (for 14 years) for more money. I bought a house up in Alta Loma in 1976, Got married to Darlene Dubler, had 2 daughters Kellie and Brittany. I dropped out of the Tenders union, rejoined the Plasterers union in 1988 as a Journeyman plasterer. I worked all over the nation as a Journeyman plasterer, from Anaheim's Disneyland to Orlando's Disney World to Bourbon Street, New Orleans and everywhere in between. I moved back, from Alta Loma to Montclair in 1996, bought my grandmothers house that I was raised in, keeping two houses that I had in Alta Loma. Later selling them to my daughters in about 2016.
In 1999 I was elected as a Business Agent to So. Cal. Plasterers Local #200 where I was assigned ...Expand for more
and covered All of San Bernardino County and Riverside County until I retired. I also worked during that time, as a part time Apprenticeship Instructor, and I produced as the Editor, two Quarterly Newsletters Trowel Talk and Health Beat. For the Health Beat Newsletters I was able to co-ordinate with Kaiser Heath and Kaiser footed the bill for all costs associated with research, production, mailing, etc. for the local until, I retired from the Plasterers Union April 1st 2016, forty four years in my trade, for anybody who's counting, winning 7 elections (3 year teams) to remain a Business Agent. I love My trade (plastering) and wouldn't change a thing.
I have a couple of hotrods and a couple of bikes and four grand babies 2-3 -4 and five years old to keep me busy now a days. The Covid pandemic was a terrible time, I'm so grateful it is coming to an end, I can finally return to sipping Ales at the Claremont Craft Ales, the Dragon's Tail and Rok Hous Breweries, my favorites, and catching live music where ever I can find it. All is good.
Good enough for who it's for.
