David's Story
I was born and raised in Gettysburg, PA and attended Meade and Keefauver Elementary Schools, Gettysburg Junior High and Gettysburg Senior High until the middle of my sophomore year when my family moved to Indiana, PA. I attended Indiana Area Senior High School from the fall of 1976 till I graduated in June, 1979.
I have two older sisters, Teresa and Cathy. They both also attended the same schools as I, but Teresa finished her senior year in Gettysburg, while Cathy moved with the family to Indiana. They were both in the class of 1977.
My oldest sister, Teresa, was married to Jim Shanefelter from Gettysburg, PA for about 20 years and has two sons, Matthew and Adam. She is part of the Executive Management Team at the Wal-Mart on the Outer Banks.
My second oldest sister, Cathy, is married to Dennis Little from Creekside, PA and they have 3 children, Dennis II, Ginger and Beth. Cathy is a highly-skilled Political Speech Writer.
After high school, I attended DeVry Institute of Technology in Dallas, TX and majored in Electronics Technology. After going to DeVry, I worked there for 2 years as the Lab Supervisor. It was a cool job, but starting at the top so young and so green was hard. While living in Texas, I met my wife, Rose, while I was doing my laundry one Saturday night at a Laundromat. She walked over and star...Expand for more
ted to talk to me and fold my towels. I jokingly told her she wasn¿t doing it right. The rest, as they say, is history.
Our current home is in Greencastle, PA, a small town about 70 miles northwest of Washington, DC. We have 3 wonderful children, Grace, Heather and David II.
I am a Technical Supervisor at a Data Communications Manufacturer in Gaithersburg, MD, where I have worked for the last 20+ years. My hobbies include: Electronics, Ham Radio, Computers, Photography and Web Site Design.
The most enlightening part of my life has been working around people from so many different cultures and learning from them. The majority of my 25 employees are Asian women (Chinese and Vietnamese) who spoil me. Having worked around them for most of my career, I can say that they are more like my family than my co-workers. I have seen then come to the US, get married, buy homes, start families, etc. What an exciting time it has been for all of us.
Now that I have told you all about me, why don't you write and tell me what you've been up to? I am an Internet junkie and an E-Mail-aholic. I have never seen the people at RIM, the makers of the Blackberry, but I love them all. I have my Blackberry next to me 24/7, so I will see your E-Mail and respond as soon as I can get the car pulled over. My kids tell me I need therapy.
