David's Story

As the old adage says, "If we would have known we were going to live this long, we would have taken better care of our selves" right? But, this is where we are and today is all we got, grab it and sqeeze as much out of it as you can because when it is spent, it is really non renewable. If you read my story before you will know that I am married for the second time to a wonderful gal from England. We have two little girls, 5 and 8, all of whom brighten my every day. My oldest is an M.D. and in the final throws of her Endocrinology Fellowship at the University of Utah Medical Center. She has two little boys, the same age as her little sisters (have to think for a minute), the family tree looks akin to the scrub pine on the Divide about the Flathead. He husband is an accountant and MBA. My only son is a Veteranarian in Portland and his wife is in her final year of Dental School. We had a daughter that died and we named her Faith, for very obvious reasons. My parents still live in Kila and enjoy very good health for the life that they have lead. My dad still cuts his own wood and works on a few cars. I still own an operate a funeral home and run 6 businesses out of our facility. We operate all the county ambulances for Johnson County, Wyoming, we operate a cemetery, own and operate Harness Monument Co, I have been the elected coroner for the past 30+ years and will continue that as long as I can, AND we are the CFO and help direct a gymna...Expand for more
stics gym. Our coach is Hal Halvorson from our senior year in high school. (he coached Flathead High)! Hal and I had jobs working the 2012 Olympic Gymnastics and if you were very attentive you may have seen me. If you even turned on the gymnastics events you would have seen Hal as he was on camera EVERY day and EVERY event. Great experience. My son and I travel a great deay hunting and our lives are packed. I became a bit of a professional student in my more "mature" life and got a Master's in Forensic Science and was accepted into a Forensic Doctoral Program at the University of Strathclyed in Glasgow, Scotland. The Forensic Doctorate was to involve more travel than I could spend the time. My PhD ended up in Health and Human Services. If you ever have problems with insomnia, I wrote a 450 page dissertation on cremation that is sure NOT to light a fire under you. I send it out as sleep aids. Every young Doctoral candidate is sure his/her dissertation will change the world, when in fact there are typically two people who read it; the guy that wrote it, and the guy that graded it. Frankly no one really gives a hoot what you write as long as it is in proper research form........a bit deflating really. I still run 7 miles on Monday and Friday, ski or bike on Wednesday and lift weights on Tuesday and Thursdays. If you have taken the time to read this drivel you need to get a life. God Bless and I would love to read your story. Harness
