David's Story

Life I married in 1967 to a Butler girl, Sharon Ann, I have one Daughter and one Grandson and my mother lives with me as of 1997 after dad died. We all moved back to Ky. together in 2005 after my family and I were transfered to southeast Georgia in 1988. My Grandson was born in a small town, Alma, Georgia on July 28, 1997. My dad died on September 9, 1997. He and mom was visiting me, in Georgia, at the time of my grandson's birth, so he did get to hold him and be a great grandpa for a little while. Yes we do have pictures and video. Mom was the perfect great grandma and she and I took care of my grandson, David (what else would you name him) from October of 1997 on, due to my daughter and son-inlaw both working. It really helped my mom get through a very rough time after the loss of my dad. I retired from CSX Transportation (old L&N Railroad) as Plant Manager of Administration. I retired early at 48 yrs old with 30 + years service due to heart attacks and subsequent severe coronary artery desease (hereditary). I did not want to retire but I was told I had to retire. As it turned out, I received my full Railroad Retirement benefits and full company management pention so it turned out to be a blessing but it took about two years for me to realize it. I have had on going repair through the years to the arteries as every two year heart cathertization has indicated. It took about seven yrs. to get the right meds and now I am doing fine. l play in a couple of bands as a hobby and have recorded, mixed and mastered CDs recording in Black Pearl Studio and Productions in southeast Georgia, as therepy and a hobby, recording original songs and other groups while I was in Georgia.(17 yrs.). I have moved back to the Bluegrass and live in Shelbyville, Ky. I got used to small town living while I was in Georgia. I play with a group here in Louisville, "Mid Life Crisis" and with a Christian road group, "Receptical", with members based all in the USA southeast. Blackshear and Atl. Ga., Charolet and Boone N.C., Shelbyville, Ky. I am able to do this because a member of that group is an International Pilot with USAIR and I get buddy passes to fly to the closest city to where they are booked. I enjoy doing that a lot. I play keyboards and guitar with that group. The keyboards and amplifire are furnished but I travel with my own guitars. I still love cars as a hobby but I have some problems health-wise tinkering with them. I still have my '64 Corvette Roadster I have had for 33 yrs. and a Corvette Coupe I bought new in '95. I still window shop and test out the new stuff when I can. It has been hard being away from my relatives and friends for the last 17 yrs., but I did meet a lot of musicians and make new friends, two really special friends and their families of which one died from cancer on October 18, 2006. She was 43yrs old and a great musician, singer and song writer. We miss her terribly.
