David's Story
If I was a book I would be a very interesting story. Not exciting, but interesting. Far from a best seller.
Left CHS in a hurry, had enough of living in the house with my parents. Wanted to be on my own and did not want to go to college. So I joined the Military.
Guess what they did? Sent me to school. What a drag. I became a Law Enforcement Dog Handler, later on in my career I they made me a Narc dog handler, then a bomb dog handler, for 4 years of my career I was assigned to the Secret Service. Very exciting and educational.
Life was cruising along, had the wife, the 2.2 kids, car and all of that then a small set back. I had a medical condition called eplipsy. WOW. Who would of ever thought? Was on my first day of a deployment to Germany. Well that was a great 30 days because I did not have to do anything. I toured the country. Visited some old friends and enjoyed myself while the doctors tried to finger (LOL) out what was wrong with me. Who knows what wrong with me, maybe I was just messed up from the beginning and no one told me.
They gave me a choice of staying in or getting out of Military. I chose to stay in. About 2 years later the wife decided to dump me like a 10 Lb bag of spuds. I pulled the holding the kids over her head and told her if she wanted to leave it would be with what she came with and the kids were not in that package. She said fine slammed the door in my face and left me with a 2 year old boy and 6 year old girl. It was at that time I learned what those two big metal boxes in the corner where. You know washing machine and drier. OMG I could not even cook a hot dog. Out come the self help books. All the other mothers helped me also. I learned a woman job is never done. LOL. OMG between the military and kids my hour...Expand for more
s were 5 in the morning till 12 at night.
I found my new and improved wife in St. Louis 2 years later. I chased her all over the state of Missouri till she married me. (Her story says I got her drunk) Anyway the kids turned out great, 20 years later I am still married to the ball and chain. I mean beautiful chick.
I did retire from the Military. I went back to school got an AA in CIS, BA in CIS, MA in CIS. What do you think? Do I like computers.
I taught for 3 years in a Jr. College which I loved but they only wanted to use me and not hire me because they thought they would have to give me benefits. The joke is on them.. I have had benefits all my life and didn't need theirs.
I now work at the IRS. Love it because it is only a 6 month job and get paid for the year. I work in the code and edit department and love it. When we work hard that is what we do.
I live in a modest farm house in the country. Nothing fancy but it is pretty much mine. Have 6 dogs, yes you heard me right. All pretty much live in the house including one huge lab, and for info he is the best of all the dogs. He has a kennel out side but stays very little in there. He is the Wiener dogs best friend. I have two Palms also that are my buddy's.
Life is good. I look back and there is nothing I would change. I am very high energy, positive attitude type of person. Yes I am moody at times but it doesn't last long. I love the KC Chiefs, and KU Jayhawks. Have season tickets and love Missouri. Been here since 1979 and this is home.
Am I successful? Yes, I am, My wife (new and improved model) raised two highly productive citizens and I try to be an example to those that are around me. Do I earn a million a year? NOT SO MUCH.
That is my story and this would be my book!
