David's Story

School I have been a student at many many schools, I can understand what it is like for military brats very well, but my pop wasn't by the time we began to uproot every couple or so years two of the schools I attended elementary are either no longer in existence, or seem that way out of the three I went to the first being Edison which still exists technically, but the building I used to know is gone and the new one is relocated on a different part of the grounds, the second is Culp Creek whos sister school down the road still exists and has taken over the burden of teaching the higher elementary grades(currently the old culp creek has become privatized I think it is some sort of christian school). Between the two was Harrison which is still in existence, but has little value to me. Onward to Lincoln junior high for a short spell "a very confusing place" then to a town I will not miss in the least with Westfir middle school as the beginning of a spiral down for me I couldn't go a week without a fight because if I started with one guy and made them look bad thier cousin would want to get involved a week later and so on and so fourth. We got the hell out of Oregon quick I spent a little time down in Kentucky at slaughters school wandered back west after a hot summer and settled down in Tacoma where I finished middle school at Kiethley(aahh the memories of spending an entire semester working on a birdhouse in shop class only to have the health department come in and condemn it). I went on to Washington highschool next door for a while (what do you mean I don't look familiar??? OOOH right I was one of those poor scrubs who skipped half the classes well goooolly!!!!!!!! you know those kids shoot back now right?) Don't worry I am not a member some gun toting Idaho militia I rather find the idea of nazism distasteful and stupid. Well I had managed to skip long enough to take all that free time I had to change schools and continued at G.A.T.E.S. till all thier trusting fuzzy huggy feelings crrud when they adjusted thier policies started to make me ill and I told off the V.P. took myself a nice five month vacation and enrolled at Challenger to get down to the bussiness of graduating , with all that I still managed to graduate by my expected date just like the rest of the class of 1994 ain't that a b!+ch??? College I guess technical school counts even if it's "Job Corps" about a year after the Navy's failed attempt at taming me (another story) I started going into vocation training at job corps, the food sucked they don't really pay you anything "it's more like being on an allowance" anyone over the age of 18 is reduced to being supervised as if they are a child again once you sign up and I got so sick of hearing "Hotel California" but they trained me to be the best maintenance man which amounts to diddly all it is is fixing toilets, and kicking deabeats out for not paying rent I've been shot at, cursed at, had to cover for bosses too drunk or hungover to work. So I made a change about a while ago and started going back to school again, I decided at that point If I am going to deal with children I would rather deal with the real things than adults who had not reached full maturity even at 40. I like kids, I thought about te...Expand for more
aching soon after I left Highschool but got sidetracked by jobs that offered better pay and benefits, Phooey!!!!! I have my Associates Degree for teaching through my community college and I was enrolled at PSU starting on my Bachelors of Science but a lot of good that was thanks to a lot of factors beyond my control. Overcrowding in the financial aid office and late payments on grants and loans to students forced me out of school and onto the streets (I couldn't cover my rent, so I couldn't remain in school) now again I am back to square one trying to operate a small art & design business from the back of my truck and online while working through a temp company painting fishing boats for just above minimum wage. I would like to use the words directly I am thinking about but "FU federal financial aid!" will suffice--I'm sure you get the gist of it. Now I am in business for myself working 2 jobs no thanks to a failing college system. Workplace Since I got into the, apartment bussiness I had put up with all kinds of BS. I am going into teaching now, so I can deal with "real children" instead of whining babbling idiot adults. All of those I knew in school were more civil compared to the jobs I was in I have been shot at, robbed, scammed, browbeaten, covered shifts for drunken hungover bosses and employees, experienced the lash of nepitism, been told that my job was reliant upon picking up thier vehicles from bars, watched hookers and drug dealers go in and out of apartments, being told by managers "oh don't worry about it" and I am expected to be happy and compliant after wittnessing that much, but the list goes on I will leave it out though for convenience of space there are more companies but classmates doesn't have them on the list but those three I have listed are the biggest offenders and I hope they have changed thier acts by now, but I only speak the truth to remind them to keep it straight consider yourselves tatooed. I am what you call a limbo worker, have had a lot of crappy jobs, I never missed a day going to them, I never stole or lied at a job, and I never used anything on company time (not even a martini lunch). Yet for some reason I was never given the opportunity for promotion, rarely ever have I seen a pay raise, my jobs have never been taken seriously by others, and more often than not my suggestions are ignored rather than discussed. I don't get fired from jobs either, they just keep me in a state of "limbo" until I get tired of the dead ends and try to move on. I seriously dislike the way a lot of things are done--I won't lie about that, and I will voice it and encourage others to do the same if they feel they are in the same situation. Military Basic 1994, co.389/390 integrated companies division 10 from September to November. PFTU (Physically #uc*ed and totally Useless) Division 9 south. November to December Seps "freak" Division 9 north December to January I busted my ass on that PT test 15 times If the Navy didn't want me then they could bite me, they let the guys who couldn't swim stay back then "now how stupid is that" OH yeah I forgot "military intellegence at work" Currently I run my own artist service by mail order website back in business again while living in Cornwall, NY.
