David's Story

email me taz8310 at comcast.net....I came to Branham in my soph year from a lifer military background. Always moving always making new friends. Never knowing anyone for any extended period of time. For the first few weeks, I was invisible. very few people talked to me and this was what seemed like about the thousandth time this happened. Finally I started making a few friends but never really connected with anyone. Then swim season came around and I was back in competative swimming again. Scott Zadel was an amazing swimmer. During kick drills he rested more than he swam because he was also on the cross country team and most of the rest of the swim team took 3 times as long in the kick drills than Scott. I was a shy person in my early years, withdrawn and introverted in most activities. I was too small for the more popular sports like basketball and foot ball. Couldn't hit the ball worth a darn so baseball was out. and no one ever came to the swim meets, not even girlfriends. Swimming is a boring sport to watch and so I was basically an invisible student. I remember my first classes with Mr Fisher, Mr Dragon, Mr Dwyer and Mr Beebe. The first two made the classes fun and interesting. The latter two were boring and put me, and many others as well, to sleep. Along came my senior year...Expand for more
and I decided to have some fun so I joined the choir and took Modern Dance with the girls in PE. Got a D in PE that year as the Male coaches didn't like the fact that I was different than the rest. Sharkey, I know remembers how many times we had to put with the verbal harrassment from the other guys. We were called queers, fags, but none of them really grasped that we were with girls in TIGHTS, we were dry, warm and having a blast with the Girls and they were cold, wet, and being grabbed, pushed, and thrown to the ground by a bunch of guys. I have always laughed about that over the years. I joined the Navy out of school because I wanted to be on my own and away from my parents. I guess I wanted to rebel like most of us at that time. Maybe that's whay I went into the Navy. You see my dad was career Air Force and just another slap in the face for my parents during my rebellion period. I could go on forever but by now I'm sure your bored so I won't put you through more misery about my life but for the basics. I'm married coming up on 30 yrs on of all days Nov 18th for you see my wedding day was spent in the misbelief over the news about the Jonestown massacre. 980+ people forced to commit suicide. I have 4 kids 3 boys and 1 girl (obviously) and 2 grandkids ages 29,27,25,23, 9 and 6
