David's Story
I went into the U. S. NAVY in 1964 at Great Lakes Training Center. After graduation From the Training center I was ordered to New London Conn. for Submarine Training. From there i was ordered to the fleet for service. In 1965 I was ordered to service in Viet Nam. during my time over seas I got my GED High School Diploma. In May of 1966 I was ordered to the states for more training. Upon completing training I was sent back to the fleet. In Oct 1967 I recieved orders to Viet Nam for another 12 mo service. My second tour of duty was cut short. During the Tect Offensive I was injured and choppered out on a medivac chopper to an Aircraft Carrier for surgery in their ship board Hospital. From thier I was Flown to Yakooska Naval Base Hospital for further surgery and recovery. I arrived back in the States in May 9th 1968 just before my 21st Birthday. I was released from service in August 1968 with an Honorable Seperation. After I got out of the service I hung out for about 3 months just having fun and getting well. Did a Little college & recieved AN ASSOCIATES DEGREE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION. I hooked up with Pattie Wood, we married in Nov 25 1968. during that time we had 3 chil...Expand for more
dren, David jr, Brian Micheal, & Jennifer Marie. We started having marridge problems in 1978 & Devorced in 1981. From 1972 till 1986 I was and Independent Trucker. During the last 3 years or so fo my Independent Truckers life I met and Married Rita Diana Wunderlin from Livingston,Wesconsin. My Rita let me continue to truck another 3 years (cause she was able to ride shot gun with me. In 1986 my wife told me that I would sell my Tractor and Trailers and get a job as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, which of course I Did untill 2010 when I was forced to retire because of health conditions .Rita & I have been marrier for 34 years and are very happly. We bought a house in Mastic Beach,L.I. N.Y. and have lived here ever since. We Have 7 Grand Daughters and hope we can spend time with all of them. My younger brother John passed in 2003. His youngist Daughter, Dawn Marie now lives here with us along with her daughter whom we a proud of. We are her Grand Parents at the request of her mom, Dawn. We are struggling just lick everyone else but looks like we going to make it. I'll add more as I remember it. Will try to get then and now pictures put up soon.
