SCHI was launched in 1994 to create healing residential communities where homeless people help themselves ¿ and each other ¿ through the transition from the streets to self-sustainability. Since 2006 his efforts have helped reduce the length of stay at Quinn Cottages while increasing the number of graduates (over 80% of program participants now leave with housing secure, income stabilized and sobriety intact)
In addition to numerous management trainings, Husid participated as an emerging leader in Bank of Americas Neighborhood Builders Initiative where he was voted Valedictorian for the 2006 graduating class.
Husid has been a strong advocate for homeless issues, and has been the voice for so many who have been silenced by their homelessness. He now resides in Citrus Heights with his wife Nanette, daughter Lacy, and his faithful companion ¿Oreo¿ the dog¿
