David's Story
It has taken me a while to figure out what to say. Some of you knew me 40 years ago and I don't think any of you have seen me since then.
So what has Dave been up to? I can't claim any greatness, aside from my family. I graduated from UT. Not as valedictorian or with a 4.0, but damn it, I graduated. I had a lot of help from my wife, Debbie Fleming, who some of you may remember from 5th grade at Smithwood. Matter of fact, she has been my foundation for 37 years! Along the way we had 2 kids, Erin born in 79 and Jonathan born in 84. Had a bout of prostate cancer in ¿93, at the ripe old age of 42. (That was about the only thing remarkable about my life.)

3 years with Georgia-Pacific in Atlanta, and 5 years with a couple of other companies in the wholesale building materials field. After three layoffs in 5 years, I decided screw it with working for big business. I¿ve spent the last 5 years as a home maintenance contractor. That¿s a handyman that charges $65 to $100 per hour. It¿s been great fun, I wish I had gone into construction a long time ago. But, back when I went to UT, nobody thought about being an entrepreneur. It was go to college, get a job at a big company and stay there forever. Different world nowadays.
In short, I¿ve spent the last 40 years pursuing and enjoying my portion of the American dream.
