David's Story
I am living in Ypsilanti, within 3 blocks of where I grew up. I have been here since 1985, after living in Illinois, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Nuclear Navy (submarines mostly), and consulting after the Navy, kept me moving.
Now I work at the Fermi nuclear power plant as superintendent of radiological engineering. I only finished my BS, but my nickname is Dr K because I can speak in complex sentences even when I don't have to. I do have 2 Ph.D's working for me. While I am eligible to retire within a few years, I plan to work another ten as long as I remain healthy. I see nuclear as the most reliable form of green power, and want to help build one of the next generation plants if the financing ever comes through.

ngest of my eight children graduated from my alma mater, EMU, in April 2009. The first two grandchildren were born around that time as well. The kids are mostly living in this area, but David II is in Portland, OR, and Katie is in Chicago.
My brothers all live in this area, and my sister Mary lives in Marquette, MI. Both parents are still living on Hull Street.
I follow the Tigers, Pistons, Red Wings, and sometimes the Lions if I need to feel hopeless. My wife and most of the female children only watch NBA. We have League Pass every year to allow her to see every Piston game, and to follow the Knicks and Lakers. The men in the family also follow college football, NFL, and MLB.
My favorite restaurant in this area is Conor O'Neill's Pub in Ann Arbor. They have good Irish food, and excellent beer on tap.
