David's Story

Life Normally I don't do things like this but I found myself browsing thru the list of people from MilHi, trying to remember names and faces. I ended up clicking on profiles of people whom I can only vaguely remember yet I really enjoyed seeing the pictures and reading the Bios so I thought I'd reciprocate a little. I've added a couple recent pics - like most people, I don't have any teenaged pics digitized so maybe people can just visualize what I looked like without wrinkles and grey hair. Not easy, though! I was browsing thru the photo galleries and found a pic of a bunch of guys from the Class of 81. The only one that I "may" have recognized on the street would have been Bob Kurtz. So...what's up with me? I've been married since '93 to a chick that keeps getting hotter every day! I have two great kids - a 21yo daughter and a 13yo son. My daughter is on her own and lives and works in the Everett, WA area. My son, other than being a normal, surfing/skateboarding 8th grader, works in the entertainment industry as an actor and model. My lovely bride works as a business manager for entertainment industry clients and I own a computer and networking service company. Most of our spare time is spent boating. Either crewing on racing sailboats or on-board our own boat, most of our spare time revolves around being at the harbor. It's something I never thought I'd be interested in but, once we bought a boat, it changed our lives. There's nothing like being anchored out at the Channel Islands - 30 miles offshore, yet a million miles from the hussle and bussle of Los Angeles. We've seen Humpback and Blue whales, pods of dolphins leaping and playing as far as the eye can see, Bald Eagles, Sea Lions and Seals, Brown Pelicans, Flying Fish, schools of tuna attac...Expand for more
king "bait balls" - it's just amazing that we're right off the shore of SoCal!! I still keep up with music. I play bass guitar and the occasional keyboard in a band every week. We haven't had a chance to play many clubs around the L.A. area recently but I have been fortunate enough to play The Whiskey-A-Go-Go, Coconut Teaszers, The Gig, The Martini Lounge, Paladino's and a score of smaller places over the years. We play mostly rock with a little progressive edge to it. People who don't live in Los Angeles always ask if I've seen or met any celebs. Yes, lots! For the most part, they're just like you and I only uber-rich. Of all the celebs I've met and personally gotten to know, I would say that two stand out more than others; George Clooney for literally being one of the nicest, generous individuals I've ever met and David Crosby for being rock and roll royalty yet presenting himself as a quiet, unassuming old hippie. Here are a couple things that I remember about high school. I remember the smell of frying squid every year on the day that the biology classes did squid dissections. I remember making natural gas bubbles in chemistry class then lighting them and scorching the ceiling. I remember some dumb-ass girls crushing up asthma pills in art class and snorting them off the table. Good times!! I remember the full solar eclipse. I remember a bunch of the bigger guys picking up the band director's little Nash Metropolitan and carrying it up the stairs to the entrance of the auditorium. I remember the rivalry with PutScum High School. I remember how "white" the school was. I never spoke face-to-face with a black person until I was 21 years old! That sounds so bizarre but it's the truth! We were SO sheltered back then. OK, I feel old now.
