David's Story
Life
OK so technically I did not graduate with you all
(J.E.B. Stuart for just my senior year), but I
think maybe you will remember me... Came to
Southern California to attend University of
Spoiled Children -- hey, I _qualified_! Finally
graduated in 1980 in Psychology after trying
Business, Journalism, Fine Art and Social Welfare,
Oh also bartending school. After a few years as
an accountant, I became full time house
husband(see below) and attended UCLA Extension
program in Landscape Architecture. Eventually
started working for a landscape contractor as
designer & administrator, bean counter, mother
hen, field marshal. ...Expand for more
Finally quit after years of
frustration, now I work three days a week doing
Specialty (specialty--that means expensive, and I
don't work too hard) Garden Maintenance. On the
off days I do design for another (BETTER)
Landscape Contractor, or make art or work on my
house & garden.
Re: the house husband thing... I came out as a Gay
man in '77 or '78 (no big surprise, eh?) met a man
in the last few weeks of final year in college and
stayed with him for 12 years. We have now been
amicably separated for Eight years, he is still
one of my few trusted friends. After eight years,
I am still single, which is not how it was
supposed
