David MacLeod:

CLASS OF 1971
Toronto, ON

David's Story

After Vanier; went to U. of T. for 6 years in Chemical Engineering, Political Science and Economics and left without a degree. I was still playing and organizing too much chess. I did some odd jobs for a while including driving an auto parts delivery truck before joining the computer department of a large bank. There I have been for the last 31+ years slaving away on all of the operating systems that most in the business would call the backwaters of the dicipline.(PDP 11/70, Series/1, System36.VAX, Tandem, UNISYS) I think that I have put out to pas...Expand for more
ture more operating systems than anybody else in the company. What has amazed me over the years is how by working and living within 7km of Vanier over a period of 30 years, after about 1979 I have only come accross two people from the class of 1971. I would have tought that the odds would have been greater than that. Well I moved north of the city about 5 years ago and the air is a little bit cleaner. Iit is a lot easier to head up north on a weekend and commuting in the opposite direction is great except when there are bad snow storms in Barrie.
