Life Since joining the Navy in 1969 I have traveled a lot of miles and gone down many paths. I took my discharge in Hawaii and stayed out there until 1977. The only time I returned to live in Texas was briefly in 1974, when I taught martial arts on the Naval Air Stations in Corpus Christi and Kingsville. In 1977 I decided it was time to see the continental USA and picked Independence MO off the map, mostly because I liked the sound of the place and always thought Harry Truman was interesting. It was there I met the woman who would become my wife in 1983. As of this writing (20 Nov 2006), I await my day in court and the opportunity to be rid of this terrible woman. I do not believe in divorce, but found myself married to one of those people who had a secret life. During those years I attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City. I discovered rock climbing and mountaineering during those years and spent about a week each month in Colorado or other points west.
