David's Story

Life Since joining the Navy in 1969 I have traveled a lot of miles and gone down many paths. I took my discharge in Hawaii and stayed out there until 1977. The only time I returned to live in Texas was briefly in 1974, when I taught martial arts on the Naval Air Stations in Corpus Christi and Kingsville. In 1977 I decided it was time to see the continental USA and picked Independence MO off the map, mostly because I liked the sound of the place and always thought Harry Truman was interesting. It was there I met the woman who would become my wife in 1983. As of this writing (20 Nov 2006), I await my day in court and the opportunity to be rid of this terrible woman. I do not believe in divorce, but found myself married to one of those people who had a secret life. During those years I attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City. I discovered rock climbing and mountaineering during those years and spent about a week each month in Colorado or other points west. In 1986 we moved to Rome GA, then to Conover NC, then to Lebanon TN, settling here in Huron TN in 1999. I held the office of Constable ...Expand for more
in Henderson County TN from 2002-2006 and am currently serving as a Reserve Deputy, specializing in cybercrime, intelligence, counter-terrorism and grant writing. I live on a 40 acre farm. As I assume most people our age are doing, I work too much and play to little. I am fit and healthy, but could use a little more time at the beach surfing, maybe sucking down drinks with fruit and paper umbrellas. Since leaving TC, I have taken part in most of the history of our time, including a couple of wars, multiple natural disasters and the occasional refugee exodus. I have gotten to surf Hawaii, kayak whitewater, climb a bunch of mountains and lived to tell about it. A fine liberal arts education has made me boring in three languages, but provides a bit of comfort. At least, until the mind goes. It has been many years since TC faded in my rear view mirror, but I think about all of you quite often. If you are passing through TN, I are halfway between Nashville and Memphis, just off I-40. So, on your next pilgrimage to Graceland or trek to the Grand Old Opry, drop by for a visit. Stay safe, David
