David's Story
Life
Before Eastern, I attended Randall Jr. High. I am married again... and living in Durham,NC. This maybe unbelievable for those that knew me at Eastern, but I am teaching in the Durham Public Schools..I finally got my act together...look me up.
How many of us have spoke these word, "I sure wish I knew then what I know now."
I was so wild and crazy in my youth. Most of us probably were. I think about some of the time that I wasted, I think about many of my former teachers that saw something in me that could not see in myself, and I want to say, you all were right and I apologize for being so hard headed. Now that I work in education, I understand. Believe me I do. But, I am blessed. I am alive and alive with wisdom.
Many people may not agree with Louis Farrakhan and the teachings of the Nation of Islam, but that is what saved my life in my younger years. It protected me from living a reckless way of life. At the same time I have learned to respect and love all people regardless of their race, religion, culture, disablity, or sexuality. This I gain from interacting with differnt people and praying that God would make me the person that he wanted me to be. God does not hate people, ...Expand for more
just their actions that do not conform to his will.
For me, life started after high school. Along with studying at different universities, I developed a thirst for knowledge. I could not stop reading. I am thankful to God that he put this yearning in me, for the devil has many vices of his own that I could have fallen victim to.
After all these years and many lessons, I am still learning. I am not where I was and I am not where I want to be, but I pray that God will lift me up where I belong. With all this said, I am having fun and enjoying life, taking the bitter with the sweet.
Beside teaching, I deejay on the side playing those oldies. I call myself DJ Straight Cuff..."Our Pants Don't Sag"
