David's Story
Life
David L. McGuffey limits his law practice to Elder Law, which means he helps Elders and their caregivers. Said another way, he helps the Elderly find, get and pay for good health care and he helps adult children take care of their parents. David is Certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation and as an Elder Law Specialist by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization. He was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1993, the Tennessee Bar in 2000 and the Michigan Bar in 2003. Other Bar admissions include: the (U.S.) Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals in 1995, the (U.S.) Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in 2002, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and the U.S. District Court for Eastern District of Tennessee. David is one of 3 editors of the NAELA E-Bulletin, a weekly newsletter distributed to over 5,000 elder law attorneys. He is a Board Member for the Georgia Chapter/Alzheimer's Association (Northwest Georgia), and is a Board Member of the Northwest Georgia Health Care Partnership (former Chair, Serving Our Seniors Workgroup); David is a member of the Advisory Committee for Ross Woods Adult Day Care Center (Dalton, Georgia), for Peachtree Estates Assisted Living (Dalton) and in 2008 joins the Ethics Advisory Committee for Alexian Brothers (Chattanooga, TN).
