David's Story
Life
Okay, the Readers Digest version of my post-LHS life goes something like this:
- Went to Ohio University, was on the five year plan, got a degree in T-Com, thought I'd be a record producer.
- Moved to Boston, lived with my brother, and chucked any and all aspirations I had of working in the music business. Landed a steady job working for a transfer agent, answering phones. This job led me to another job, and that job led me to New York. Six months later, I followed my then girlfriend to Chicago.
- Spent ten years in Chicago, working for various investment advisors, still writing about music on the side. Formed a movie/music review email list...Expand for more
with the advent of the Internet. Finally broke up with girlfriend. Soon had a better girlfriend, who I am lucky to say is now my wife.
- Went to the 15 year reunion in 2001, and played golf with Ty Clark, a meeting that would change my life. Turns out that he still wrote about music too, for a site called Bullz-Eye. I contacted them, told them I was a FOT, and they brought me on board.
- In 2004, the wife and I decided to get out of Chicago and settle down. We moved to Dublin, and after doing a little consulting, I am now the Entertainment Editor for Bullz-Eye, writing about music, movies, TV and sports for a living. Quite simply, it's my dream job.
