David's Story
I took a year off after high school and worked just enough to have money to hunt and fish. Didn't even have a girlfriend. Finally went back to college at UAB. I started in engineering and ended up with a Paramedic license.
I went to work for the City of B'ham as a fireman in 1994 and I'm still there. In 2001, I married the pretty blond who was my 10 yr reunion date and we have one 4 yr old son who, unfortunately for the world, is turning out just like me. Just found out in Mar '08 that kid #2 is on the way.
I now have a farm in Chilton County and I'm raising and selling hay(when it rains).
I just joined this site so that I would be easy to find for the 20 yr reunion. Any classmate who wants to is welcome to drop me a line.
I was reading the story ideas and some of them I'll answer:
Everyone would probably be surprised to know that I was honored as B'ham Firefighter of the Honorable mention to Tiffany WYear in 2003 for a "daring second floor rescue via ladder" (Bham News' words) of a bedridden woman in an apartment fire off of Robert Jemison road.
Teacher I would like to see is Mary Ellen Nicholas (Spanish) because I heard that she was sick at one time and I would like to know she was OK.
Wildest thing I did was shoot holes in the press box at Waldrop Stadium. Yes, I got caught and, yes, I had to pay for fixing it. ...Expand for more
(Rick C. : That's what Parker W. and I wouldn't tell you what we were in trouble for in our senior year)
My high school crushes didn't even know I had a crush on them. I didn't learn how to flirt until I was 30 and I was too chicken to let them know. So here goes;A big "Hello, and I had a crush on you" goes out to, Michelle Ho.(8th grade), Traci Sp.(9th), Lisa An.(9th), and Leslie To. (11-12th).
Being truly happy doesn't mean that I would have to do anything different than I am now. I would, however, like to win just enough lottery money to be debt free. You have to buy one of those little "ticket" things first though don't you? Oh well.
If I got one do over.....Hmmmm......., I would call Michelle, Lisa, Traci, and Leslie. I know what to do now. (I'm very happily married ladies, that's just a fantasy, but look me up at the reunion.)
Wierdest job?...Well, you see some wierd and sometimes yucky stuff as a Fireman/Paramedic. Details at 10.
Lived in Westover,(Shelby county) because all my family was there, (only my Dad lives in Homewood) until I married in 2001. Sherry already had a house in Columbiana so we lived there until we started looking for a bigger piece of land in 2005. Shelby county real estate prices sent me looking further out in Chilton county and that is where I landed.
Looking forward to seeing you all this year.
