David's Story

Life I have fond memories of CHS & St. Raphael'’s Golden Buccaneer’s Drum & Bugle Corps. Does anyone still have the recording of the Bucs' performance at Carnegie Hall on May 18, 1963? Any P.A.L. Cadets out there? How many of you went on to the Hurricanes? I volunteered for US Army December 1963, because of emotional spur of moment decision after JFK assassination. Bad decision. Ended up in Viet Nam for 3 tours. Awarded Bronze Star Medal, among others - with that and .25 cents was able to buy coffee in post "Nam" America. Moved to Houston, Texas in 72’. Earned my B.B.A. in 3 years - Major in Accounting, Minor in Finance (University of Houston - 1979). I am retired. I have been widowed twice - lost one after 25 years to a blood clot and lost my 2nd to cancer in 2020. I have two beautiful daughters. May the sands of time touch you gently! Dave. ne from the Class of ‘64’ remembers me, but if you do and you have a copy of the '64' yearbook could you copy page 43 for me. I enlisted in US Army 12/63 after JFK assassination - ended up doing 3 tours in Vietnam & 3 tours Germany – awarded Bronze Star and Joint Services Commendation Medal. I had planned on making military a career, but when I was ordered to return to Vietnam for a fourth tour I decided that a 20 year career didn’t sound so good – even though I was an E6 and qualified for Officer Candidate School. Returned to CT then moved to TX in ‘72’, obtained my BBA in Accounting – minor in Finance - from University of Houston. I’m now retired, had a wonderful wife, but lost her to cancer in 2020. I have 2 wonderful daughters. I would like to hear from anyone who remembers me as the kid from Connecticut. Again I would really appreciate it if anyone with a copy of the ‘64’ Pioneer would kindly send me a copy of page 43. Photo no longer needed. David Renner

Some of you know that my wife Brenda had 2 surgeries to remove colon and lung cancers in 2018. Unfortunately the lung cancer returned; and, in early February 2020 Brenda was placed under the care of Memorial Hermann Hospice
My 2 beautiful girls Michaela und Patrizia & my lovely ex-wife Inge who live in Germany - oh what might have been if not for the damn Vietnam War - but then again I never would have met & married Carolyn & Brenda.💕😢💕
