David's Story

Life Currently (05/05) working as the Country Director for the Peace Corps programs in Micronesia and Palau. Expect to be here until 11/07 and will then move on to something new. Married to Alison, originally from Newcastle, England, and have two daughters: Sarah, age 5, and Anya, age 2. Quick bio since leaving JHS: Gradauted from UofI and served as a PC Volunteer in Zaire (81-83). Worked on Fishing boats in Alaskan waters 84-86 before receiving my Masters in Aquaculture from Auburn University in 87. Went to Sierra Leone to work on a fish farming project for an NGO and came back to the States in 90 to direct the Peace Corps aquaculture training program for the Africa region, first at the University of Mississippi (90) and later at the U of South Carolina (91-92). Off to Bangladesh in late 92 to direct a national fisheries project...Expand for more
for the Asian Development bank until 1996. Took an extended tour through Asia before getting back to the US and earning an MBA in 98 from Thunderbird in the Phoenix area. Returned to Sierra Leone to work with the International Rescue Committee on recovery efforts during the ongoing civil war in 98 and shifted to working with Concern Universal in refugee camps for Sierra Leoneans and Liberians who were stranded in Guinea. Birth of our first daughter forced a relocation and ended up as an Associate Director for Peace Corps in the Russia Far East program in Vladivostok in 2000. Left there in 2002 to take over a job with Peace Corps in Moldova and later promoted to Country Director. In January of 05 I was asked to move to the South Pacific to take over responsibilities as the Country Director for the programs in Micronesia and Palau.
