David's Story
Life
After graduation I immediately began working at Sparrows Point, spent four horrible years there and fortunately got out. Only to find myself trapped in the Post Office for the next thirty years.
Hindsight, being 20/20, allows you to look back and see the mistakes you've made. Looking back, I now know that I should have listened more and worked harder in school. Taken advantage of my abilities and opportunities. Alas, I am where I am now, not a bad place, but wishing I could have done better... regretting that didn't. Life goes on... Inexorably...
I married... fathered two wonderful children. A daughter, who is preparing for marriage herself now. And a son, who is just turned 36 as this is written. He has Downs Syndrome. He has been a challenge, but a gift from God nonetheless! He's my pride and joy and never ceases to amaze me!
My marriage, never what I expected it to be lasted for 27 years. Held together, largely due to our son's handicap. However, when things became untenable.....Expand for more
. It was over. I now find myself in a new committed relationship with a very lovely woman.
We are in the process of winding down from our professions and arranging to enjoy our, OH MY GOD! Golden years!
Together, we have shared the joy and love of six wonderful Boxers, Tyler & Penny, Scrubs, Nickles, Danielle, and now Murphy... I am very proud to say they were all rescues...
I played trombone and sang "Big Band Music" in the PowerHouse Jazz Ensemble at Essex Community College, and again in Rich Rice's Blues in the Night Orchestra. I have dabbled in poetry... Contemplating learning oil painting... And somehow continue to hold my very loosely knit family together.
It sounds like a full plate... But somehow I seem to keep it going.
School...
Though I didn't attend Overlea, or Kenwood, or Lansdowne... at that time of my life I was hanging around with many of you guys... Thusly I find myself listing here. If you're really interested, I graduated from Baltimore City College, Class of '69.
