David's Story

I went to The University of South Carolina after high school. I had a great time but was not smart enough and mature enough to graduate. After working in a warehouse for a year, I joined the U.S. Army. I spent six years as a combat engineer, serving stateside and in Korea. I had a lot of growing up to do, and the Army taught me honor and respect. After being honorably discharged with the rank of Sargent, I went to work as a groundskeeper at a sports complex owned by The City of Florence in South Carolina. I have always had a love for plants and flowers,so I went to work for a family owned greenhouse .I was living i...Expand for more
n a small town where my mother and brothers lived, I loved the chance to be close to my family and living in a town where you know everyone. In 1995, I moved to Columbia S.C. to be closer to my family in Lexington S.C. and closer to my father who was living in Augusta Ga. I went to work for The State of South Carolina as the groundskeeper at The State Museum in Columbia SC. In 2013 I retired with 28 years of service in government. I am now working for a land surveyor in Lexington SC to stay busy. I love to play golf and go to the beach. The North Shore of Hawaii is a very beautiful and very spiritual place.
