David's Story
Life
I don't even know if anyone will remember me but I was supposed to graduate in 1989. I signed myself out in 1988, I was 16 at the time. I went to Adult high school but didn't get to finish. My father past away when I was 17 so work was always my #1 priority. I'm 35 now and regret not finishing. I am married for the 4th time and have 4 children. Their ages range from 2-9 so my wife and I have our hands full. I've been working at my current job for 5 years. I stuck it out there but couldn't stick it out in school, hmm. Maybe for my kid's and my own satisfaction I should take an online course to finish.
Workplace
Well the job I was working in my life section is over. I was working in the casinos of Black Hawk, Bullwhackers to be exact. I was there for 6 years, the last 2 as a slot technician. That was great! I had to give it up and leave for my family though.
My mother had been watching my kids for me. Instead of paying thousands for daycare, I would pay her... a whole lot less. Her health has recently been getting worse and she was worried about not being able to continue...Expand for more

So the decision came down to my wife or I would have to be home during the day. She makes more $ and covers everyone on her insurance for cheaper than my job. So I left and went on the parelless journey of finding a job at night.
I started working for Home Depot on the freight team. I've taken a big pay cut but my kids are worth any sacrifice. So I was an associate for about 2 months when the supervisor of the team went to days and her job became available. I applied, mainly to show intent of wanting to move up in the company, not expecting to get the position. Myself and a couple other guys from the team, they had been there almost a year, were interviewed. The next day our manager came up to me and told me I had the position. I have only been with the company for about 4 1/2 months. I've been supervisor for 1 1/2 months of that time liking it and not at the same time, but getting better at the job so I will like it better. Still working on school so that I can progress to the next level of management.
