David's Story
Greetings from Lufkin. After PHS, I earned a BS in forestry at Miss. State (76) and followed that with a MS in forestry from Virginia Tech (78). Shortly after graduation from VT I began a 36+ year career with the US Forest Service. My duty stations (in order) were Ackerman, MS , Paris, AR, Edgefield, SC and Rolla, MO. My longest tenure was 17 years in Rolla because I loved the Missouri Ozarks. I retired on Halloween day in 2014. The federal bureaucracy killed the fun of going to work every day.

ndsons and 2 granddaughters ranging in age from 4-15. Four are in MO and two are in Robertsdale, AL.
Retirement has been a mixed blessing that has brought many changes across the personal and professional spectrum. I travel a lot to see my grands and have also stayed active with the Federal fire service working a variety of all-hazard incidents, ranging from wildfire and hurricanes to the FEMA COVID-19 vax sites.
I live with two rescue dogs who keep me young and busy with walks while they liberally spread their love around 24/7. The three of us share a house with a chronically-ill friend whom we look after when life is tough.
