Greetings all,
I found myself scrolling through the list of folks from Bellevue West who had visited this site, and it brought back a lot of fun memories. I appreciated that folks like Nora Fawcett and Mardi Milhaem actually wrote something and ifigured I should do the same. I've been living in Chicago for the past twenty years doing what probably seems like an odd series of things. After graduating from UNL, I moved to England for two years to do my master's degree. I came to Chicago after that to pursue my Ph.D. After confronting the realities of the academic job market and my broader intererests, however, I decided that being an English professor wasn't quite my thing and went straight to law school after the doctorate. nd academic administration back at the University of Chicago. I've become quite involved in environmental sustainability and am currently working on developing a consulting practice that tries to combine all the stuff I've done along the way. On the personal front, I got married at 30, divorced at 38, "came out" shortly after that and have been involved for the last year with a great guy named Michael. There has been a lot of travel (spent six incredible months in Provence writing my dissertation, for instance) and other great experiences. I still remember how much fun it was to talk with folks like Doraine Baul, Chuck Paquette, Pam Sparta, and others at the ten-year reunion, which I guess was my last substantial contact with high school. Goodness. I tried to find Bridget Sullivan on the internet recently and had no luck, so a site like this can be helpful. Hope this message finds everyone doing well.
