David's Story

Well, my long-lost, new/old friend Tina suggested I do this, so here goes...perhaps it will be therapeutic as well. My life-long passion has been music and that just has never changed. I went out on the road for awhile shortly out of high school, playing bass in a top-40 dance/show band and got to tour the old ol' U.S. of A. Performed in glamorous places like Butte, MT.; Winnemucca, NV.; Green Bay, WI.; Visalia, CA.; you get the picture. Did that for awhile then came back to SD and settled down here. I then played in various bands and projects, and did some recording. But the music thing never really took off (shocker!) as a career, so I ended up in management and sales jobs after a five-year stint writing news stories for a now-defunct newspaper here in town. n the music industry, newspaper writing didn't pay so well and involved a lot of nights. So I moved on. Most recently I have my own company that markets golf apparel, leather goods, etc. to the golf industry. It's a cool gig and I get to travel to some great resorts, clubs, and product shows. It's a lot of fun. Along the way, I got a B.A. from SDSU in Environmental Geography, with the idea I might become a nature/travel writer or planner. Didn't pan out, but never say never. The wilderness remains a passion of mine as well. I married my beautiful wife at age 40 and have three awesome kids ~ ages 12, 9 and 5. The youngest is a boy, so you can imagine that my hands are quite full. But I still have time to play my guitar and jazz is my music of choice...for now.
