David Vitulski:  

Command Master Chief(AW/SW) David B. Vitulski United States Navy Retired Master Chief David B. Vitulski was born in Chicago, Illinois and enlisted in the United States Navy on 14 February 1974, in Tucson, Arizona. Following recruit training graduation, from Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, he reported to USS SACRAMENTO (AOE 1) in June 1974. It was during this tour he became a designated Yeoman and subsequently selected for advancement to Third and Second Class Petty Officer. In 1978, after completing three overseas deployments to the Far East, Indian Ocean, and Middle East, Master Chief Vitulski transferred to the staff of Headquarters European Command as a message processor and later as one of the three Alternate Top Secret Control Officers for the headquarters staff. Departing HQEUCOM in January 1980, he was assigned to the Command, Control, Communications Directorate, Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (OJCS) where he served in the directorate’s administration office and within four months of reporting was hand-picked to serve as the Administrative Assistant for Lieutenant General Hilman Dickinson, USA and Major General Patrick Halloran, USAF. During his tour in OJCS, he was advanced to First Class Petty Officer and later selected to attend YN “C” School (Flag Writer School) in Meridian, Mississippi. After graduation Master Chief Vitulski served as Flag Writer for Vice Admiral Kent J. Carroll, Commander, Military Sealift Command. In July 1983, he was ordered to Carrier Group SEVEN (CARGRU 7), as Flag Writer for Rear Admiral Stanley R. Arthur. While in CARGRU 7 he completed his fourth overseas deployment embarked in USS RANGER (CV 61), that included setting the new at sea record for a fossil-fueled carrier of 122 days. In 1984 he was selected for advancement to Chief Petty Officer. Transferring to Guam in 1985, he was ordered as Flag Writer for Rear Admiral Chauncy F.
