David's Story

Life I thank God that I've been graced with the family, friends, wife and home that I have. My parents are healthy and happy, having retired before they turned 60. (They have even become the center of social life in their small community in Texas.) My wonderful wife, Gini, is the best thing that ever happened to me. (She's the only reason I'm not still completely retarded.) And I still have a great relationship with my best high school friend, Gino Dunn, who remains a person I hold in the highest regard. And I've even managed to make a life in a really cool community in Southern California. (The place we all wanted to be most weekends.) I work primarily as debtor's counsel in consumer bankruptcy cases, but I've also represented some well-known creditors. If I won the lottery, I'd still be doing this work the next day; It's that gratifying. Most people I represent have been ill, separated from their jobs, divorced, or some combination of those horrible. They hate that they are considering bankruptcy, but for most of them it's an act of self-preservation. I get to see a world of concerns lifted from their shoulders, and that's pretty cool. My favorite indoor hobby is video gaming. And, here, I'll admit I'm a total geek. In my defense, my wife forces me to bicycle and resistance train, so I'...Expand for more
m not a total Xbox-potato. But, that said, if you call me a geek I'll kick your butt in a Halo 2 match! Most times I'm on line between 10:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. I really don't own a car. I'm that concerned about the moderate amounts of fine particulate air pollution we have to live with in San Diego County. But my wife has a hot rod Porsche that is even cooler than the red 1967 Camero I drove in high school. When I can't car pool she lets me borrow her car, and I have to say I still enjoy a fix of power and noise. <g> I guess I wanted to join classmates.com to let anyone know that cared that I'm OK, and I hope they are, too. I think about people from high school, from time to time. I doubt many of my classmates remember me, though, since I didn't go to very many classes. That said, Mike Young, Larry Bainum, Gino Dunn, Jan Mensch, Linda Chiaferi, and a lot of others: Thanks for a bunch of good memories. I sincerely hope you're all doing well. School Biggest crush? Hmmmm...unrequited? That would be Terryl Meyer. Teacher that inspired me? That's easy: Psychology teacher, Mr. Garufus. Do it all over again? No, I'd try to study and get an education. The teachers tried. I just wasn't interested. Funniest, happiest, craziest moment? Lunch time drag racing on Meadows Avenue.
