David's Story
Life
I have 5 kids: 28,20,22,15 and13 and as of 02/18/08, 2 GRANDDAUGHTERS and 1 GRANSON! I work as a Commercial Construction Superintendent for Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company. We build High Rises, Resorts, Power Plants,Roads etc... We moved to Maui in November of 07 after 13 years in Seattle which was after I spent 18 years in Fairbanks Alaska. I think I finally made it far enough South now. Sobriety was the key to finally surviving the legacy of my TRF upbringing. Mom and Dad died in 02 and 03 so TRF has been off my list of travel destinations for awhile. Just too much crap for me to get into there. Old habits die hard and all mine live in TRF.
Motorcycles, scuba, snorkleing and kayaking are on our hobby list now. My 28 year old son, Nick, called the first week...Expand for more
of June to tell us he is engaged. Perhapse more Weckwerths on the way. (He got married here 09/13/08!)
My job is incredible. I supervise projects in places people dream of visiting. 600 Million Dollar resorts and Recreation areas on the beaches of Maui. Building on Malls with 500 stores covering millions of square feet near Waikiki Beach. Skyscrapers overlooking some of the most beautiful coastlines on this planet.
Life is good sober and my worst day sober STILL beats my best day of drinking.
There have been many people who knew me "back in the days" who say they can't believe how my life turned out and try to credit me with making all the right moves.
The truth is I am a drunk who turned his life over to a power greater than me and the rest just fell in my lap.
