David's Story
1974 went in Army. 3 months standby to go to Vietnam. Got out late "75." Took a civilian job in Seattle and late "76" went into the Navy. My first duty assignment was Diego Garcia, 400 nautical miles south of the equator. During this time I visited the Philippines, Okinawa, Guam, Bang Kok, and Madagascar, 400 miles off the east coast of South Africa. Returned to states January of "78" with assinlgnment in San Diego. I met my first wife while on leave in Seattle. We were married and 9 months later we divorced (I caught her cheating).
January of "79" I was transferred to the U.S.S. Sacramento AOE-1 in Bremerton, Washington.
After the Navy I lived and worked in Seattle for a year, before moving to T...Expand for more
acoma, where I got involved sports officiating, 40 years later I'm still umpiring baseball.
I moved around quite a bit because of job transfers. I returned to San Diego for 7 months, then back to Kirkland, Washington for a year, then Phoenix for a year, then it was north Houston, then to open a brand new restaurant in Cleveland, TX. I met my second wife online. She was a non-traditional student at the University of Wyoming.
We were divorced after 15 years together and so I moved back to Texas. But while in Wyoming, I had a heart attack that required all 4 major arteries and 5 secondary arteries be bypassed. This forced me into retirement. I hate not having much to do. So, this concludes my story.
