David's Story
Life
I'm Dave Yeager, and in Sept. '58 began my high school career at Clifford J. Scott H.S. I liked it so much I stuck around for four very interesting years, graduating in June of 1962. I then spent four years in the service of this country in the U.S. Air Force. Though I am not related to Chuck Yeager, he was definitely an influence regarding me choosing that branch. In the next four years, a lot of changes. I worked for AP Smith in E.O., then moved to Western Mass. in 1968, but not before dating a girl from W.O. (who also grew up in E.O.). In the summer of 1970 I married that girl, in W.O. Meanwhile, I acquired my lifetime job in 1969, the U.S. Postal Service, where I remain employed to this day. I have worked every day of the last 36 years in Western Mass' lead city, Springfield. During that time my wife and I had a son in 1975 and a daughter in 1980. Ever since 1957 my overwhelming interest in life has been rock and roll music. I have...Expand for more
played in many bands, lending a hand on piano (later on: keyboard) and bass guitar. I amassed a huge record and tape collection over the years. I've met many stars of rock and roll. Starting in 2002 I picked up a new hobby: riding rail-trails on my hybrid (road/mountain) bike. I've travelled to trails in every area of the Northeast. The future: remain loving my wife, being an inspiration to my children, and retiring from the Postal Service in 2009. JULY '11 UPDATE: I retired 10/31/09, exactly 43 years after my Air Force discharge. I got 2 great part-time jobs. 2018 UPDATE: In 2006 my daughter gave me and my wife a grandchild. In 2015 we all moved to Rutland MA, in the Worcester area. I got new part-time jobs. Christmas season 2017: A chance was given for retired postal clerks to work the Christmas season. I worked 6 weeks in Fitchburg, MA. Mar. '18: Still playing a lot of open mics, both here in the Worcester area, and back in Western Mass.
