David's Story

After High School, I went in to the Army to fly helicopters and after release from the military, I had a pretty bad motorcycle wreck that kept me from working for nearly a year so I moved to Spokane, Washington where my parents were. I attended College for three years at Eastern Washington University then went to Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics school. From there I got a job flying helicopters in the civilian world and have been at it since. Now I am a helicopter pilot, training pilot, chief pilot, check airman for a major player in the government fire co...Expand for more
ntract arena. We have 10 exclusive use fire helicopter contracts throughout the western United States to the US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and the National Park Service (Yosemite) that keep me busy relieving and training. I live in Utah where my wife and I have 3 dogs and a small ranch with 12 horses. We ride a lot in the local wilderness areas and do some volunteer trail work for the US Forest Service and the National Park Service (Zion National Park). We are planning on my semi retirement in a few years and are looking forward to it.
