David's Story

In response to a request, after graduation I attended Universität Salzburg in Austria prior to entering Cornell University. I graduated in 1966 with an AB in English. I took commission as a Naval officer and reported for flight training in Pensacola FL. Subsequent to basic training I was ordered to Miramar CA for advanced jet training and subsequently completed three Westpac tours including 200 combat missions in the F4, with an instructor assignment in between. Subsequent assignments included Armed Forces Staff college, F14 transition, ships company...Expand for more
tour and an overseas command. I finished my career as Executive Officer and Commanding Officer (A) of NAS Miramar. After retiring I returned to college for four years, completing an internship at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and employment as a Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer performing invasive procedures in cardiac surgery and cath lab as well as non-invasive imaging. I retired a second time in 2015. I was married in 1967 to a Sweetwater HS graduate and we have a son and daughter. We currently live in SD North County near my twin brother's family.
