David's Story
Where to start?...hmmmm....well after good ol' Narbonne I was off to tiny Whittier College (most famous alum Richard Nixon). Majoring in partying with a Minor in getting into shenanigans with my fraternity brothers. Due to family financial as well as academic problems (see Major above), I left after about 1 1/2 years and began what I call my "wandering years". I became somewhat involved on the fringes of the early 80's LA punk scene as my cousin was in some well known bands (Black Flag/Circle Jerks) that I followed around. I played around a bit with drums and bass but never got very serious about it. Unfortunately the "partying" increased to an unhealthy point and I spent several years battling these demons and going through the revolving door of rehab. Fortunately I was eventually able to clean up my act and have been off the juice (and other related vices) for 20+ years now. I was eventually able to get a steady job and went to night school where I was able to finally finish my bachelor's degree (after 8 years !!!)at Cal State. During this time I lived down at the beach in Redondo where I had many great experiences and personal ...Expand for more
relationships. More recently I have become a full-fledged member of the establishment getting married, having a corporate job and (gasp!!) even moving to OC. I was also able to go back to night school again and get my MBA (I'm a glutton for punishment)!Seriously though, life has been pretty good lately. I am a big technology geek and I get to work for a major technology company (Samsung). About a year a half ago I was diagnosed with the "Big C" and had to go through 8 months of chemo and radiation treatment. It was a bit dicey for awhile but everything has turned out alright so far. I must say, I do not look good with no hair :). I have also recently started to get back into playing music again (drums) and try to go to as many concerts as possible. I am currently in a blues band but my main focus is my rock dance cover band called The Anonymous. We play out quite a bit mostly around the recovery/biker scene. There are some great musicians in the band and I was very fortunate to hook up with them. Well - I hope that I haven't bored you too much with my story. I hope all of you are doing well and I look forward to hearing from you !!
