David's Story
Life
I have lived in the Indianapolis area for over 25 years now. I moved up here for a job in 1982. I have been married twice, the first time for about six years, with no kids. My second marriage gave me two kids, a 16 year old daughter, and a 12 year son. They are the greatest kids in the world!!! (ok, what parent wouldn't say that?, but mine really are!) I enjoy cooking, mountain biking and doing a little gardening now and then.
I like to tell people that I've spent more money on repairing my mountain bike than on my car (a '94 corolla w/ 250,000 miles), and that's the way I like things. My kids and I go hiking and camping in Hoosier National Forest as often as we can. I plan on taking them on a hiking/camping trip to the Grand Canyon next year. That will serve as one of the warmups for when I take four months off and we hike the...Expand for more
Appalachian Trail in 2011 (I'll be 50 then, aren't we getting old?).
I didn't finish UK, but got into selling industrial equipment and computers, and had to learn how to work on them myself. Once I learned how to program control systems, programming and service became my primary job. I've had some fun working in many different fields, doing a wide variety of projects. Some of the more interesting projects include a completely robotic manufacturing cell that machines raw forgings into completed truck axles, large water treatment systems, and natural gas pipeline and distribution control.
I started out in sales, and that is again a large part of my work. Mostly I'm providing equipment to water and wastewater utilities, as well as power plants. I travel throughout Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio, which keeps my busy throughout the week.
